Alston
Johnson
Rector
The
Reverend Alston Boyd Johnson became Rector on December 1, 2005.
He was most recently at St. Andrew's Episcopal Cathedral where he
was the Canon focusing on Pastoral Care, Teaching and Youth among
many other duties.
He
has also served as Rector of Calvary Episcopal church in Cleveland,
Assistant Rector and Curate at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity
in Greenwood, and Priest in Charge of Grace Church in Carrollton
and St. Georges by the Lake in Itta Bena.
He
is married to Elizabeth Jabaley Johnson, and they have three children:
Benjamin, Theresa and Georgia.

Scott Lenoir
Priest Associate
The Rev. Scott Lenoir joined
the Chapel of the Cross in
January 2010. Lenoir will help with worship services and pastoral care as directed by our Rector.
Most recently he served as a supply priest in the diocese on Sundays celebrating Holy Eucharist at various churches that were vacant or in need of a substitute priest. He is the Editor of The Mississippi Episcopalian, the monthly newspaper printed by the diocese.
Scott has spent all of his twenty-one years of ordained ministry in Mississippi and has served in several churches. After graduating from Sewanee in 1988, he was appointed to be the curate at St. James’ and vicar of Redeemer Church in Greenville. In 1990, he was called as rector of St. Stephen’s, Indianola and in 1995 he was called back to St. James’, Greenville to serve as rector. In 2001, Scott left the Mississippi Delta for the Coast where he served as vicar of St. Pierre’s, Gautier. Prior to Katrina, the Lenoirs moved to Madison County and Scott worked with St. Columb’s, Ridgeland, for a short while before serving as vicar of St. Mary’s in Lexington for three years.
Scott is married to Harriett Coleman Lenoir of Greenwood, and they will celebrate their 32nd anniversary in February. The Lenoirs have one adult child, Christy, and two grandchildren, Brendon, 6, and Taylor, 2, of Abilene, Texas.
Scott’s hobbies include golf, writing, riding horses (very carefully is the resolution for 2010) and playing harmonica with the all-priest rock/blues band Rubrixx of which our Rector is the founding member. He is also a member of the 2010 Honduras Medical Mission.

Judy Barnes
Parish Coordinator
As
Parish Coordinator, Judy works closely with the Chapel parishioners
and the public. She looks after property needs, communications including
the newsletter and event details. Contact her about cemetery plots,
the church calendar or any other inquiries. She will assist you
or put you in touch with someone who can.
Before
joining the Chapel staff in February, 2000 Judy worked for Sta-Home
Health Agency for several years. She was named Secretary of the
Year for the statewide company. Later, she was support services
coordinator for Sta-Home Hospice where she recruited and trained
volunteers and was involved with patient and caregiver support and
publicity.
Judy
has four daughters, two sons-in-law and two grandsons. She enjoys
family time, reading and do-it-yourself projects. She collects art
pottery and kitschy objects.
Judy
often says how much she loves her job at Chapel of the Cross. She
enjoys getting to know the parishioners and considers every day
an opportunity for ministry.

Carrie
Duncan
Program Assistant
As
Program Assistant, Carrie assists with the work of numerous Chapel
committees and groups. She schedules service volunteers, maintains
the membership and contribution database and prepares the service
bulletins. Contact Carrie about membership transfers, address or
contact information or prayer list updates.
Carrie
joined the Chapel staff in August, 2001. She has been involved in
Episcopal youth activities for over ten years. She has led the Episcopal
Young Churchpeople (EYC) at St. Philip's in Jackson and helped with
EYC at Trinity in Hattiesburg and St. Peter's in Oxford while attending
college. She and her husband Nat have coordinated Division of Youth
(DOY) weekends for the past four years, lead the annual Youth Council
and they were involved in starting New Beginnings in Mississippi.
She served on the planning committee for the Diocese of Mississippi-York,
England young adult exchange.
Carrie
graduated from the University of Mississippi with a BA in Classics.
She is busy with the remodeling of her house, enjoys cooking, Trivial
Pursuit and entertaining.
Carrie's
love of the Episcopal Church is expressed through her attention
to detail and commitment to the Chapel committees and members she
assists every day.
