Annual Parish Meeting Minutes

January 12, 2003

Ann Homer Cook began the meeting with prayer and opening comments.

Ann Homer Cook presided over the meeting.

BUSINESS:

Election of Vestry. Ann Homer Cook introduced the persons selected by the Nominating Committee to be candidates for the Vestry positions becoming available and thereafter invited nominations from the floor for each of the positions to be voted on. There being no nominations from the floor, the ballots were distributed, marked, and collected to be counted.

Search Committee Report. Seymour Pooley, Chairman of the Search Committee, gave an update on the work of the Search Committee. Ann Homer Cook provided additional comments on the work of the Search Committee and praised them for the excellent job done on the Parish Profile brochure.

Report on Commissions. Ann Homer Cook introduced the Convenors of the Committees, who in turn introduced the Committee Chairpersons and gave a brief overview of the work done by the Committees.

Financial Report. Handouts were distributed of the Preliminary 2003 Operating Budget and various items of the budget were discussed. It was reported that Ann Homer Cook and Brooks Mosley met with bank officers to discuss refinancing the building debt. The new loan will save over $8,000 per year in interest, which will be applied to the principal amount. Ann Homer Cook pointed out that more than $300,000 over the debt amount has been paid since 1999. In response to questions about the cemetery fund, it was reported that fund is healthy, letters have been sent reminding people to pay for plots that have been reserved, and almost all the deeds have been issued. Ann Homer Cook thanked Charlie and Cathy Craig for the cemetery fence that was installed and Herman and Irene Crowder for the landscaping.

Ann Homer Cook gave closing comments during which she reflected on the changes that have occurred during her term as Senior Warden and thanking everyone for the support and hard work during that time.

The results of the Vestry election were announced: Oscar Hartman was elected Senior Warden; Scott Carter was elected Junior Warden. Those elected to the Vestry were: David Conn, Bill Fanning and Keith Obert to serve three-year terms; Phillip Gaines was elected to serve the remaining two years of Oscar Hartman's term; and Sherry Mosley was elected to serve the remaining one year of Scott Carter's term.

The meeting was adjourned with prayer.
