Guild
The Altar Guild members (men and women) prepare the Chapel
for worship services by making sure the linens are kept clean, the
silver and brass is polished, the candles are filled, the wine and
bread are always in supply, and the church is neat. Before each
service, the members place the proper linens and service vessels
in the Chapel at their appointed places, mark the Bible for the
readings, arrange the hymnal numbers in the holder and set out the
appropriate bulletins. The Guild also takes care of cleaning and
stocking the Home Communion box. The Altar Guild operates by teams
who serve the same Sunday each month. ALTAR GUILD TRAINING
is being planned for October. If you wish to join a team, let us
know.
A
Tip to Help the Altar Guild - All parishioners can assist the
Altar Guild in its work by picking up everything from the pews when
you leave church including bulletins, used tissue, children's toys.
Also, cleaning the silver and pottery is made much easier if the
ladies will blot their lipsticks before partaking of the wine.

Mississippi
Diocesan Altar Guild
Chapel Altar Guild members have long been prominently
involved in Diocesan and Province Altar Guild Associations. Jan
Smith has been President of the Province IV Altar Guild and a member
of the National Altar Guild Board. Judy McLarty has served as National
Altar Guild President.
National
Altar Guild Association (NAGA)
The purpose ofthe National
Altar Guild Association (NAGA)
is to assist parish, diocesan, and provincial Altar Guilds through
information, resources, and communication including a quarterly
newsletter - The Epistle. By making itself aware of the great diversity
among Episcopalians, by staying abreast of liturgical changes not
only in ceremony but also in the furnishings of worship, by helping
solve contemporary Altar Guild problems, by spreading the word about
who knows what "in Altar Guild country," NAGA is the center
of the Altar Guild network. The Altar Guilds "out there"
assist NAGA with its on-going projects such as making stoles and
chasubles for the chaplains of the armed forces and rounding up
articles for its regular gift to General Convention - an outstanding
Ecclesiastical Art Collection.
