Calendar of Events and Notes

Youth meet at 10 a.m. every Sunday and at 6 p.m. every Wednesday during the school year.

Junior High EYC 6th-8th grade generally meets 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. on Sundays during the school year. Senior High EYC 9th-12th grade generally meets 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Sundays during the school year. The two groups have supper together at 6:00.

Hi Everyone,

This week we have: Wednesday, November 19, Sr. High GO/GNO (Girls Only God’s Own/Guys Night Out) @ 6 PM in the youth center. Don’t forget you can have a good meal for $5 if you come at 5:30 PM. Jr. High BL4Y bible study series in the level 3 atrium.

Friday, November 21 we will meet at Malco Grandview for the 7:20 PM showing of “Twilight.”. You MUST sign up by this Wednesday, November 19. Cost is $8.50 per person. Tickets will be pre-paid. Please arrive before 7 PM.

Sunday, November 23 Jr. High EYC will meet from 3 to 5 PM in the youth center and Sr. High EYC will meet from 5 to 7 PM in the youth center.

Don’t forget to sign up for the EYC camping trip Saturday December 6 – Sunday December 7 at the Gray Center. Sign up deadline is December 3.

As you know the Chapel usually has an Angel Tree for gifts for needy children. This year the need is greater than usual, as you might imagine. The EYC is asking ALL YOUTH to bring $20, or more if you can, to help us buy gifts for these children and teens. We will “pick” a child soon and try to provide them EVERYTHING on their list. Please bring your money to church over the next few weeks and turn it in to me. Checks may be made payable to Chapel of the Cross and please put EYC Angel Tree in the memo. We will go shopping for these gifts on December, 14 and then return to the church to wrap them.

Upcoming Diocesan Events:

WINTER SOLSTICE: The Color Game, December 27, 2008-January 1, 2009, Camp Bratton-Green, Canton. This year's Winter Solstice will center around a camp-wide game that divides the camp into different groups. Each group has an assigned color, and group members wear armbands that indicate their group. This is not a static game; the groups and their members will change throughout the week. Although this is a game, with the requisite rules and expectations, there is no expectation of physical ability. Any player has the capability to succeed. This game will provide the foundation for discussions about living in Christian community and how we can live into our baptismal commitment to justice. Winter Solstice is for youth in 9th-12th grades.
