Kairos

Kairos is an interdenom-inational Christian ministry whose programs are designed to be presented in the highly volatile prison environment. Its purpose is to establish strong Christian communities among the populations of correctional institutions. Persons drawn from a broad range of denominational churches - Episcopal, Methodist, Roman Catholic, Baptist and many others - who have experience in renewal movements which focus on small group dynamics, share and prayer groups, personal witness and vulnerability in the Christian community make up the staffs of Kairos. Anne Mollere, life-long member of the Chapel, has served on several Kairos staffs.

As incomprehensible as it may seem, 15,000 dozen cookies are needed for just one Kairos weekend. Churches from all over the state join together to share in this monumental task. The Chapel has assisted by providing cookies to be given to inmates during Kairos weekends at Parchman Penitentiary in the Mississippi Delta and the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility's Women's Unit in Rankin County.
